Key takeaways
- Odoo cost has five parts: license, server, platform, backup storage and people time.
- Per-worker and per-GB pricing grows with usage; flat plans with your own server grow only when you add servers.
- Community edition removes the license cost entirely.
- The cheapest option on paper (a self-managed VPS) is often the most expensive once you count time.
The five parts of Odoo hosting cost
1. The Odoo license
Community is free. Enterprise is a per-user subscription from Odoo S.A. and costs the same wherever you host it. If you are deciding between them, see Community vs Enterprise.
2. The server
Odoo needs CPU and memory for its workers and for PostgreSQL. A server with 2 to 4 vCPUs and 4 to 8 GB of RAM handles a typical small business. Budget providers such as Hetzner charge a fraction of what AWS, Google Cloud or Azure charge for similar specs, while the big clouds offer more regions, services and compliance options. Check each provider's current price list for your region.
3. The hosting platform
This is what you pay for deployment, backups, monitoring and updates. It is where pricing models differ most:
| Platform | Pricing model | What grows the bill |
|---|---|---|
| Odoo.sh | Per worker, storage and staging branch, on top of Enterprise | More workers, data and environments |
| EasyInstance | $30 per worker per month, plus $0.80 per GB after 5 GB, per its site | More workers and data |
| Cloudpepper | From $29 per month with your own cloud, per its site | Plan tier and servers |
| CloudPilot | $19 with hosting, or $29 or $149 on your own servers (billed annually), unlimited instances from Pro | Plan tier only |
| Self-managed | No platform fee | Your time |
Competitor prices from their public websites, October 2026, before tax. With CloudPilot and Cloudpepper you also pay your cloud provider for the server.
4. Backup storage
Backups of the database and filestore need somewhere to live. Keeping a copy outside the server is essential, and object storage such as Amazon S3, Azure Blob or Google Cloud Storage is inexpensive for typical Odoo databases.
5. Your time
Someone has to apply security updates, renew SSL certificates, check backups, tune PostgreSQL and handle incidents. On a self-managed server that is easily several hours a month. A hosting platform turns most of it into automation.
Example: a 20-person company
Imagine a company with 20 Odoo users, one production database and one staging copy, on Community edition:
- Odoo.sh: not possible, because Odoo.sh runs Enterprise only. On Enterprise you add the license for 20 users plus workers, storage and a staging branch.
- Per-worker managed host: the bill grows with every worker you add for performance, and with every GB of data.
- CloudPilot: the Pro plan ($29 per month billed annually, with unlimited staging) plus one server from your provider. A second or tenth instance on the same server costs nothing extra.
How to keep Odoo hosting costs down
- Right-size the server. Match workers to CPU and RAM instead of buying headroom you never use. Our server sizing guide shows how.
- Run several instances per server. Staging and small databases can share a server with production if it has the memory.
- Pick the provider for the job. Budget providers for cost, big clouds when you need their regions and services.
- Avoid per-user and per-worker pricing if you expect to grow.
See CloudPilot's pricing for plan details.
For what a flat plan includes, see managed Odoo hosting, and for a cost example at 10 and 25 users, the Odoo.sh alternative page. Enterprise license prices are on Odoo pricing; Odoo.sh hosting prices on Odoo.sh pricing.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest way to host Odoo?
Odoo Community on a budget cloud server. CloudPilot’s Starter plan hosts one Odoo Community instance with SSL and daily backups for $19 a month billed annually, server included, after a 14-day free trial.
Is Odoo.sh expensive?
Odoo.sh charges per worker, per GB of storage and per staging branch on top of the Enterprise subscription, so costs grow as you scale. Running Odoo on your own cloud with a flat-priced platform is usually cheaper as you grow.
