Domains and SSL
Custom domains and SSL
Use your own domain, aliases and redirects, with automatic HTTPS.
Every instance starts on a free subdomain with SSL. To use your own domain:
- Add the domain when you create the instance, or later in the instance's Domains tab.
- At your DNS provider, create the record CloudPilot shows under Set up DNS, with its type, name, value and TTL.
- CloudPilot checks DNS. HTTPS starts working as soon as the record resolves, and the certificate is issued and renewed automatically.
Aliases and redirects
- Aliases serve the same Odoo under extra names, each with HTTPS.
-
Redirects send visitors to the primary domain with a permanent
(301) redirect, for example from
wwwto the bare domain.
If the certificate can't be issued, usually because DNS hasn't updated yet, CloudPilot saves the domains and tells you. Fix the DNS record and try again. Auto SSL can be turned off in the instance's Settings if you terminate HTTPS elsewhere.
To understand DNS records, certificates, proxy_mode and
web.base.url, read
how HTTPS setup works for Odoo.
