Move an existing Odoo database to CloudPilot

Restore a backup from Odoo.sh, another host or your own server.

You can bring an existing Odoo database to CloudPilot from Odoo.sh, another host or your own server, as long as it is a version CloudPilot supports (Odoo 18, 19 or 20).

Before you start

  • Take a backup that includes the filestore (attachments). The standard Odoo database manager zip, which contains the database dump and filestore, works.
  • Have your custom modules in a Git repository, so you can deploy them to the new instance.

Steps

  1. Add a server with enough disk for the database, filestore and backups.
  2. Create an instance from the backup. CloudPilot restores the database and filestore.
  3. Add your custom modules from Git, then check the instance on its free subdomain.
  4. When everything works, take a final backup from the old host, restore it, and point your domain at the new server.
